Larripa, Clements, Dirou Garner Under Armour #A10FH Weekly Honors
 
 
WASHINGTON — The Atlantic 10 Conference has announced its weekly honors in field hockey. The awards are for games played from October 19-25.
 
Offensive Player of the Week: Clara Larripa (Sr., Buenos Aires, Argentina), Richmond
Defensive Player of the Week: Emma Clements (Jr., Fredericksburg, Va.), VCU
Rookie of the Week: Penny Dirou (Fr., Burley, England), Saint Louis
 
Clara Larripa led Richmond to a pair of victories last week, scoring six goals and adding an assist for a 13-point weekend. The senior scored four times—including a third-period hat trick—as the Spiders routed Lock Haven in A10 play on Friday. She followed that up on Sunday with both goals as UR defeated No. 18 Louisville; it was the Spiders’ first win over a ranked opponent since 2017. Larripa—who has been named A10 Offensive Player of the Week five times this season—currently leads the nation in goals (24) and points (54).
 
In a game that had championship implications, Emma Clements tied a season high with 13 saves as she shut out Saint Joseph's for 75 minutes on Friday. The junior made five of her saves in overtime, including crucial saves during a 10-minute stretch bridging the fourth quarter and the extra session when the Rams were a player down. Clements was pulled for the shootout and could only watch as the Hawks won 3-0, which earned them a 1-0 win in the game. That result gave SJU a share of the regular-season A10 title and the top seed for the Atlantic 10 Tournament in two weeks.
 
Penny Dirou created the scoring play that propelled Saint Louis to an A10 win over Davidson. The freshman stole the ball from a Wildcats player and carried the ball up the right flank before sending the ball into the circle, where Ella Kappesser collected it and fired for the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory. It was Dirou's first collegiate point. Dirou also contributed to the Billikens' defensive effort as SLU shut out the Wildcats and stayed alive for a spot in the Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Tournament.
