WASHINGTON — The Atlantic 10 Conference has announced its monthly honors for September in women’s golf.
Golfer of the Month: Maya Beasley (Sr., Pinehurst, N.C.), Richmond
Rookie of the Month: Stella Moritz (Fr., Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.), Richmond
Maya Beasley shot even par in both tournaments she played in September, Penn State’s Nittany Lion Invitational and Kentucky’s Bettie Lou Evans Invitational. At PSU, the senior went 2-under-par in the final round to finish at even-par 216 for the weekend and placed 23rd out of 90 golfers. At the Evans Invite, Beasley shot 2-over-par in the first round—her worst score of the month—but came back with back-to-back 1-under-par 71s to end the event at even-par 216, tying her for 16th in a field of 75 golfers.
Stella Moritz played those same two events and ended the month with a 73.17 scoring average across six rounds, just +1.17 to par. The freshman’s debut came at Penn State where she closed out the event with a 1-under-par 71, finishing at 6-over-par 222 for the event. At the Evans Invitational, Moritz shot a second-round, 2-under-par 70 on the way to a 1-over-par 217 finish, placing 19th in the 75-player field.
