WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference tabbed VCU senior Morena Macera as its Under Armour Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week while Saint Joseph’s graduate student Paige Kieft was named Defensive Player of the Week. Keift’s sophomore teammate Adèle Jardemar earned Rookie of the Week. The awards, the first of the season, were announced on Tuesday and are for games played from from the start of the season through Sunday, August 31.

Macera scored all three of VCU's goals, including the game-winner, in a 3-2 overtime thriller at ODU. The three goals were a career-high for the midfielder from Buenos Aires, Argentina. She scored her first two goals off penalty corners and the game-winner on a counter-attack where she dribbled past ODU's last defender and beat the goalkeeper.

A goalkeeper from Newtown Square, Pa., Kieft was outstanding in her first two games in a Saint Joseph's uniform, stopping seven shots on Saturday as the Hawks went to a shootout with No. 11 UConn. In the first sudden-victory round of the shootout, Kieft made a key stop that allowed the Hawks to claim the victory one attempt later. She then made six more saves, including three in a row late in the third quarter, as the Hawks blanked host New Hampshire, 2-0, on Sunday.

Jardemar made an impact in her first two games of collegiate action, assisting on the game's first goal in Saturday's opener against No. 11 UConn, setting the stage for SJU to take down the Huskies in a shootout. On Sunday, the back from Saint Germain en Laye, France assisted on both goals as the Hawks shut out host New Hampshire, 2-0. Jardemar assisted on all three goals for the Hawks as SJU opened the season 2-0.
