WASHINGTON — The Atlantic 10 Conference named George Mason sophomore Martim Sereno the Under Armour Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week while Patriots graduate student Jaume Salvado earned Defensive Player of the Week honors. VCU freshman Hakim Musabbah was selected as the Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced on Monday for games played from Aug. 25-31.
Sereno, a forward from Mira De Aire, Portugal, scored twice for the first two-goal game of his career in a 4-1 victory over No. 11 Virginia. In front of the largest George Mason home men’s soccer crowd in 25 years, Sereno put the Patriots in front in the 18

Musabbah, a forward from Kampala, Uganda, helped VCU pull off a come-from-behand triumph at Old Dominion. Musabbah scored the tying goal in the 73
rd minute of play, one of his three shots on the day. The Rams netted another goal in the game’s final five minutes, leaving Norfolk with a 2-1 victory.
