WASHINGTON — The Atlantic 10 Conference named Duquesne senior Maya Matesa its second consecutive Under Armour Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week while Fordham senior Kyla King earned Defensive Player of the Week honors. Richmond freshman Morgane Zinn was selected as the Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced on Monday for games played from Aug. 18-24.
Matesa, a forward from Lebanon, Ohio, helped the Dukes improve to 3-0 for the first time since 1998 with five goals in a pair of games last week, pushing her season total to seven through three games. Matesa scored a pair of goals in the first half of a 3-0 win over Saint Francis, adding a hat trick in a 6-0 win at Mercyhurst by scoring the game’s first three goals. She became the sixth player in program history to reach the 40-point plateau for her career and currently leads all of NCAA Division I in points per game this year (2.33).
Kyla King made her season debut on Saturday, recording a career-high nine saves ina 2-1 win at Northern Colorado. A goalkeeper from Hamden, Conn., King accumulated a .900 save percentage, earning Fordham’s second victory of the 2025 season.
Zinn made her mark with the decisive strike in Richmond’s 1-0 road win at Wofford on Sunday, netting the game-winner in the third minute for her first career goal. A defender from Montclair, N.J., Zinn tallied two shots with both on target and played 116 minutes across two Spider victories to help Richmond start the season with a 3-1 record.
