WASHINGTON -- The third-seeded Fordham Rams advanced to the Atlantic 10 Softball Championship game with their 3-0 victory over the top-seeded Dayton Flyers on Friday. The Rams secure a spot in the championship at George Washington Softball Field for the first time since 2022.

Tied through zero after three innings, the Rams offense broke through in the fourth inning. Sydney Wells began the frame with a leadoff walk. After two fly outs and a walk to Kate McGuire, Erin Hoppe singled to right field. Hoppe’s base hit brought in Wells. Sophie Nesturrick singled to center and drove in Hoppe and McGuire.

Dayton starting pitcher Haven Dwyer was tagged for three runs on two hits and four walks. Dwyer struck out three Rams in the loss.

The Flyers threatened in the bottom of the seventh. Chloe Wong led off the inning with a double to left field. After Deirde Flaherty flied out, Wong advanced to third on a wild pitch. The Rams escaped the inning with a strikeout and ground out to end it.

Fordham’s Holly Beeman pitched a four-hit complete game shutout. Beeman picked up the win and fanned three batters without allowing a walk.

Top-seeded Dayton will play in an elimination game at 5 p.m. on Friday for a spot in the championship game. The Flyers will face the winner of No. 2 Saint Louis and No. 5 Saint Joseph’s, who play at 2:40 p.m.
