No. 2 Saint Louis Wins on Walk-Off Double to Defeat No. 3 Fordham

WASHINGTON – The second-seeded Saint Louis Billikens defeated the third-seeded Fordham Rams in a 3-2 walk-off victory on Saturday in the Atlantic 10 Championship game at George Washington Softball Field. Saint Louis and Fordham will meet at 3:20 p.m. in the Atlantic 10 Softball Championship game.

With the win, Saint Louis avoided elimination from the Atlantic 10 Championship game. The winner of the Atlantic 10 Championship game will win the title and clinch an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.  

Chloe Rhine began the bottom of the eighth with a walk. Addie Duttlinger pinch ran for Rhine and Ashley Marietta later followed with a walk. Karsen Jany, a day after delivering the game-winning home run against top-seeded Dayton, doubled in Duttlinger for the walk-off extra-base hit.  

Fordham tied the game at two in the top of the seventh. With two outs, Nicki Sudall and Eva Koratsis laced back-to-back singles. Kate McGuire singled in Sudall, who scored the winning run.  

The Billikens starting pitcher Taylor Hochman was tagged for two runs on 10 hits. She struck out three and walked two in seven innings.  

Saint Louis scored two in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run home by Abby Mallo. It gave the Billikens their first lead of the game.  

Emilee Watkins allowed three runs on eight hits for Fordham. She struck out five and walked four across 7 1/3 innings.
