WASHINGTON – Dayton will be the top seed in the 2025 Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Tennis Championship, the league announced Monday afternoon. The championship begins Wednesday, April 23 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
The Flyers are having a tremendous season at 20-3 overall and 7-0 in conference play, including an 18-game winning streak from February 2 to April 12. Dayton, who is looking for their first ever A-10 Championship, is led by four-time A-10 Player of the Week Mikkel Zinder and two-time A-10 Player of the Week Kyle McNally. They will open their Championship run on Thursday, April 24 at 4:30 p.m. against the winner of No. 8 Duquesne and No. 9 Saint Louis.
Seven-time defending A-10 Champions VCU (10-11) will be the No. 2 overall seed and a first-round bye, and will take on the winner of No. 7 Saint Joseph's / No. 10 St. Bonaventure Friday at 9:00 am. The Rams have won three of four A-10 contests this season, only falling to No. 1 Dayton.
Richmond was selected for the third position with a 11-8 record, and will battle No. 6 George Mason (7-9) on Thursday at 7:30 pm in the nightcap session of quarterfinal matches. The Spiders closed out their season winning 3 of 4 mathes including wins over Saint Joseph's and Davidson. Fordham (9-8), the No. 4 seed, and fifth-overall Davidson (11-10) match up against each other Thursday at 4:30 pm in the opening sequence of quarterfinals.
The championship opens Wednesday with No. 8 Duquesne (4-10) squaring off with No. 9 Saint Louis (1-13) as well as No. 7 Saint Joseph's (8-17) taking on No. 10 St. Bonaventure (1-17), with both matches slated for 5:30 pm. The winner of the former will match up against top-seeded Dayton while the latter will take on No. 2 overall VCU in Thursday's quarterfinals.
The semifinals are scheduled for Friday at 5:30 pm with the championship finale slated for Saturday, also at 5:30 pm. All rounds will be streamed through the
USTA website's Playsight system, which allows viewers to select the court they wish to watch. Admission will be free for the A-10 Championships.
