ORLANDO -- Loyola-Chicago leads after Thursday’s first round of the inaugural Atlantic 10 Women’s Golf Championship by nine strokes at Evermore Resort. The Ramblers’ Cate Reisinger leads all golfers, shooting an even par 72.
The Ramblers shot a 304 (+16) to lead second place Dayton, who shot a 313 (+25). Richmond trailed the Flyers by four strokes with a 317 (+29). Duquesne, La Salle and Saint Joseph’s finished fourth through sixth respectively.
Jenna Harter of Dayton and Olivia Wilkie from Richmond tied for second place behind Reisinger, each shooting a 75. Dayton’s Emma Sparling, and Loyola Chicago’s Grace Hui and Cassie Psuik all tied for fourth with a 77. Loyola’s fourth scoring golfer, Grace Durkin, carded a 78 to tie for seventh with Duquesne’s Abby Slankster.
Megan Yoder (Dayton) and Maya Beasley (Richmond) rounded out the top 10, shooting a 79.
There were 28 birdies on the first day and 52.96 percent of the scoring was par or better. Holes nine and 15 each had four birdies to lead the course statistics.
Round two begins Friday at 7:30 am, with tee times at nine-minute intervals. All groups will play off of hole one to start. The championship concludes Saturday with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Regional.
