WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference named George Washington freshman Kaylee Layfield as its Under Armour Player of the Week, while Fordham junior Holly Beeman earned Pitcher of the Week. St. Bonaventure freshman Mackenzie Frani was recognized as the Rookie of the Week. The awards, which were announced on Monday, are for games played from Feb. 17 to Feb. 23.
 
Layfield, a Yorba Linda, Calif. native, went 10-for-18 across five games for the Revolutionaries. The freshman infielder compiled a slash line of .556/.600/.667 with a 1.267 OPS. Against Coppin State, Layfield was 3-for-3 with 3 RBI. In the UNCG Invitational, she was 7-for-15 with 5 RBI, two doubles, one walk and one stolen base.
 
Beeman, who received back-to-back Pitcher of the Week accolades, posted two complete game victories at the Garnet and Black Invitational at South Carolina. The Lake Oswego, Ore. native pitched an eight-inning shutout with three strikeouts against Boston University. Beeman held UNLV to one run across seven innings with three strikeouts. She finished the tournament with 15 innings pitched and six strikeouts, while surrendering 11 hits and one run.
 
Frani earned the win in her first collegiate start against Hampton University. The Liverpool, N. Y. native struck out five and allowed one run over four innings. Frani also scored a run as the designated player in game one of the doubleheader.
