WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Saint Joseph’s senior Erik Reynolds II the Under Armour Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Dayton freshman Amaël L’Etang was chosen as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played Feb. 3-9.
Reynolds netted 25 points and made five threes in the Hawks only game of the Week, a 76-63 win against Saint Louis on Friday. He shot 10-for-15 (.667) from the field, including a 5-for-9 (.556) effort from beyond the arc, adding two rebounds and a steal. The game was the 100th career contest in double figures for the guard from Temple Hills, Md., making him just the 10th active player to accomplish the feat and one of two to do it in four years, He also moved into third place on the SJU career scoring list, passing Bernard Blunt (1990-95).
L'Etang led Dayton to a win over Davidson with a 13-point, 13-rebound double-double. He also had two steals and two blocked shots, both team highs. He played 31 minutes versus Davidson, but was limited to 17 against VCU, with four points, three rebounds and two assists. For the week the forward form Toulouse, France averaged 8.5 points and 8.0 rebounds.
