Williams, Kerr Secure A-10 Under Armour Men’s Basketball Weekly Accolades

WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Duquesne junior Jimmie Williams the Under Armour Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Saint Louis freshman Jax Kerr was chosen as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played Dec. 22-28.
 
In a pair of games to conclude Duquesne's non-conference schedule, Williams averaged 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists while converting 73.9 percent (17-for-23) of his attempts from the field, including 75 percent (6-for-8) from beyond the arc. In a victory over Canisius, Williams hit his first 10 shots from the floor, including a 7-for-7 performance in the opening 20 minutes, en route to a career-high 24 points to pace the Dukes. Hit four of his five attempts from deep against the Golden Griffins and added six rebounds and a career-high seven dimes. A guard from Solon, Ohio, he scored a game-high 16 points in a 99-49 victory over Cleary as Duquesne concluded its non-conference slate. Williams finished 7-for-11 from the field against the Cougars, including 2-for-3 from beyond the arc, and added six rebounds and three assists.
 
Kerr recorded career-highs of 12 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Principia for his first-career double-double. A forward from Muskogee, Okla., he also recorded four blocked shots and a steal in the Billikens’ only game of the week.

Roberts Blums had 13 points, seven rebounds and two steals for Davidson at No. 17 Kansas … Davidson freshman Ian Platteeuw had dished out five assists, with six rebounds and four points versus the Jayhawks … Nick Ellington had a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double for George Mason in a win over Penn, shooting 7-of-10 (.700) from the field … Patriot freshman Emmanuel Kanga also grabbed double-digit rebounds versus Penn, with 10 board and two blocks while finishing with four points … RJ Johnson scored 19 points on 6-of-8 shooting (.750) and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the line with six assists in Rhode Island’s win over Northeastern … Rhody freshman Jalen Harper tallied 10 points with five rebounds in the Rams’ final non-conference victory … Saint Joseph’s freshman Khaafiq Myers averaged 13 points, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals in a 1-1 week for the Hawks  … Kellen Thames recorded a 14-point, 11-rebound double-double versus Principia, shooting 7-for-8 (.875) with three assists and two steals to help Saint Louis close out non-conference play with a win.
