WASHINGTON  – The Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) today announced a new multi-year partnership with OrthoVirginia, designating the leading orthopedic practice as the Exclusive Official Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Partner of the Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball Championship. Extending through June 2029, the agreement complements the Championship’s four-year return to Henrico, Virginia, and reflects both organizations’ deep roots and enduring presence within the Commonwealth.

Headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, OrthoVirginia is the state’s largest provider of orthopedic care, with over 160 orthopedic specialists across 36 locations. The practice’s extensive footprint and community presence align naturally with the A-10’s strong representation in the region. Within the Commonwealth, the conference is home to the University of Richmond, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), and George Mason University, along with The George Washington University in nearby Washington, D.C.

Together, OrthoVirginia and the A-10 will collaborate on initiatives that celebrate athletic achievement, promote community health, and expand awareness and access to orthopedic care, reinforcing a shared commitment to supporting student-athletes and strengthening the communities they serve.

"Partnering with OrthoVirginia is a win-win, aligning one of the best basketball-centric brands with the premium orthopedic care provide in Virginia,” stated Bernadette V. McGlade, Atlantic 10 Commissioner. “We value having a trusted, Virginia-based healthcare leader by our side. This partnership reinforces our commitment to providing the highest level of support for our student-athletes.”

As part of the partnership, OrthoVirginia will present ‘Hometown Heroes in Healthcare,’ a community appreciation initiative recognizing local orthopedic specialists who are making a difference in Virginia athletics.

In addition, OrthoVirginia will serve as the presenting partner of the A-10 International Women’s Day Brunch, an annual event held during championship week. The brunch will feature a panel of local female leaders, including OrthoVirginia healthcare professionals, sharing innovations in orthopedic medicine and the importance of access to care.

“We are proud to partner with the Atlantic 10 Conference and support the incredible student-athletes competing at the Women’s Basketball Championship,” said Michael Wind, Jr., MD; Orthopedic Surgeon at OrthoVirginia. “As a Virginia-based practice, we are passionate about investing in our communities and helping people understand their options for orthopedic care. The first step toward treatment is knowing what is available to you, and this partnership provides an opportunity to connect directly with attendees to provide orthopedic education.

JMI Sports – the Atlantic 10 Conference’s exclusive multimedia rights partner, operating locally as A-10 Conference Marketing – played a key role in developing the strategic framework for this partnership. Through a collaborative approach that aligned OrthoVirginia’s brand and community priorities with the conference’s championship strategy, the team helped establish a platform that enhances visibility, strengthens community connection, and amplifies the impact of the A-10’s presence across Virginia.

“This collaboration demonstrates the power of strategic alignment between the Atlantic 10’s Women’s Basketball Championship and a community-minded organization,” said Adam Donaldson, Senior Vice President, JMIS Properties at JMI Sports. “By connecting the A-10 with OrthoVirginia, we have built a partnership that amplifies healthcare awareness and reinforces both entities’ strong presence in Virginia.”
