WASHINGTON — The Atlantic 10 Conference has named both Richmond senior Maggie Doogan and George Mason redshirt junior Zahirah Walton as its Under Armour Co-Women’s Basketball Players of the Week. Duquesne freshman Alexis Bordas was selected as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards, which are the first of the season, were announced Monday for games played from Nov. 3 – Nov. 9.
Doogan, the reigning Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, continued where she left off with a spectacular start to the season. The forward from Broomall, Pa. averaged 25.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.0 steals per game across the Spiders’ first two contests, shooting 54.5 percent from the floor, 38.5 percent from behind the arc, and a perfect 9-of-9 at the free throw line. Doogan led No. 24 Richmond to a dominant 83-49 win over Mount St. Mary’s on Tuesday, recording 28 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists in the season opener. She held her own against one of the nation’s top teams on Friday, posting 22 points, seven rebounds, and five assists in a road loss to No. 4 Texas.
Walton, a first team All-Atlantic 10 selection last season helped George Mason split a pair of tough road games to open the 2025-26 campaign. The forward from Seattle, Wash. averaged 26.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.5 steals per game, shooting 45.0 percent from the floor and 92.9 percent at the free throw line. Walton nearly willed the shorthanded Patriots to an overtime win at Temple, racking up a 31-point, 12-rebound double double in the 94-85 loss. She led George Mason to a bounce-back victory at James Madison on Thursday, tallying 22 points, seven rebounds, and four steals.
Bordas opened her collegiate career in strong fashion, averaging 15.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.0 assists per game to help Duquesne start the season 3-0. The guard from Wheeling, W. Va. totaled 11 points, three rebounds in four steals in her freshman debut, leading the Dukes to an 89-60 win over Saint Francis. Bordas scored 11 points again in Duquesne’s 108-53 rout of Slippery Rock, before exploding for 24 points in the Dukes’ 72-64 road triumph against Western Michigan.
