WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Duquesne senior Tarence Guinyard the Under Armour Men's Basketball Player of the Week. VCU freshman Nyk Lewis was chosen as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards, which are the first of the season, were announced Monday and are for games played Nov. 3-9.
 
Guinyard helped the Dukes open the year 2-0 for the second time in three years last week by averaging 22.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 61.1 percent (11-for-18) from the floor, including 46.2 percent (6-for-13) from deep, and 84.2 percent (16-for-19) at the free-throw line. In his Duquesne debut, The guard from Tampa, Fla., paced the Dukes with 19 points while adding three rebounds and five steals against Niagara. Guinyard then tied for game-high honors in scoring with 25 points while setting a career high in assists (7) and adding four rebounds and three steals versus Sacred Heart.
 
Lewis averaged 14.5 points in two games, shooting 52.6 percent (10-of-19) from the floor, including 38.5 percent (5-of-13) from 3-point range. The guard from Washington, D.C., he also added 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals. He scored 10 points with five assists in his college debut in a win over Wagner, and then tallied 19 points in a heartbreaker against Utah State. He recorded a pair of steals in each game as well.

Adam Hunter averaged 16 points, shooting .667 (10-for-15) from the field and .615 (8-of-13) from three to lead Davidson to a pair of season-opening wins … Davidson freshman Devin Brown was also hot, hitting 6-of-9 (.667) from the field and 4-for-7 (.571) with seven assists (3.5 per game) to help the ‘Cats to the two wins … De’Shayne Montgomery recorded 13.5 points per game, with 4.0 steals per game and an impressive 7.0 assists to turnover ratio to help lead Dayton to a 2-0 start to the season … Fordham freshman Abass Bodija had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds in the Rams win over Mt. St. Mary … Kory Mincy averaged 23.5 points per game, including a 29-point output in George Mason’s win over Winthrop, shooting 60.0 percent (15-25) in the Patriots two wins … George Washington’s Tyrone Marshall scored 13 points in each of the Revolutionaries’ wins, collecting a double-double with 12 rebounds in the victory over Maine … Jaeden Marshall averaged 20.5 points across two La Salle wins, with a perfect 16-for-16 performance at the line and 3.5 assists per game … La Salle freshman Ashton Walker scored 18 points with seven rebounds, three assists and two steals in a breakout performance against Coppin State … Tyler Cochran averaged 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game for Rhode Island to start the season … Jonathan Beagle shot an impressive .875 (7-for-8) to average 13.5 points per game while adding 5.0 rebounds per game to lead Richmond to a perfect start to the season … Spider freshman Aiden Argabright scored 12.5 points per game, with 2.5 steals per game and was a perfect 9-for-9 form the charity stripe in his college debut week … Dasear Haskins averaged 14.5 points per game with 5.5 rebounds, two blocks and two assists in Saint Joseph’s two wins … SJU freshman Austin Williford opened his Hawk career with 6.5 points, 5.0 rebounds two assists, a block and two steals … Robbie Avila registered an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double to open the season, part of a 16.5 points, 8.5 rebound week for Saint Louis.
