WASHINGTON — The Atlantic 10 Conference named George Mason graduate student Kenzo Brito the Under Armour Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week while VCU senior Moussa Ndiaye earned his second consecutive Defensive Player of the Week honor. Rhode Island freshman William Synnestvedt was selected as the Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced on Monday for games played from Oct. 20 - Oct. 26.

Brito helped George Mason secure a pair of draws last week, a 0-0 road result at William & Mary and a 2-2 score against Saint Joseph’s. The midfielder from Sao Paulo, Brazil played a role in both Patriot goals in the latter match, recording a goal and an assist against the Hawks. Brito scored his first goal as a Patriot in the first half of Saturday’s match, tying the game at 1-1. He provided an assist on teammate Jaime Godinho’s score early in the second half to complete his three-point performance.

Ndiaye anchored a VCU back line that recorded its second consecutive shutout, earning himself his second straight A-10 Defensive Player of the Week accolade. The Rams shut down Rhode Island’s offense in the 0-0 draw, holding the home team to a single shot on goal, a season-best showing defensively for VCU. Ndiaye, a defender from Dakar, Senegal, helped VCU maintain the shutout despite playing the final 14 minutes a man down.

Synnestvedt, a goalkeeper from Cohasset, Mass., continued his strong rookie campaign with a strong showing in Rhode Island’s 0-0 draw against VCU. Synnestvedt made six saves, a new career best, to earn his second win in a Rams uniform.
