WASHINGTON – Five Atlantic 10 women’s basketball players have been selected to the 2026 Becky Hammon Player of the Year Award Preseason Watch List by Her Hoops Stats on Wednesday. George Mason’s Kennedy Harris and Zahirah Walton, Richmond’s Maggie Doogan and Rachel Ullstrom and VCU’s Mary-Anna Asare received recognition on the watch list.
Harris, a 2024-25 All-Conference Second Team selection, averaged 13.9 points per game in 24 starts (27 total appearances). The junior guard added 2.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game with 40 steals. She was pivotal in George Mason’s first ever A-10 Women’s Basketball Championship, helping the Patriots secure the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance.
Starting in all 33 games for the Patriots, Walton averaged 14.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. A redshirt junior forward, Walton collected All-Conference First Team and A-10 All-Defensive Team accolades last season. In route to the Patriots’ 2025 A-10 Women’s Basketball Championship title, Walton averaged 14 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, earning her the 2025 A-10 Championship Most Outstanding Player award.
Doogan helped guide the Spiders to their second consecutive A-10 regular season title, securing 2025 A-10 Player of the Year accolades. The senior forward collected All-Conference First Team honors after averaging a career-high 17.0 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. Doogan scored 30 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in Richmond’s first-ever NCAA Tournament win against Georgia Tech.
Ullstrom reached career-highs in scoring average (15.3), rebound average (5.0) and total steals (50) to garner All-Conference First Team honors. Ullstrom played a crucial role in Richmond’s 2025 regular season title, helping the Spiders earn at large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Ullstrom scored 18 points and recorded seven rebounds in the round of 32 game against No. 1 UCLA.
Asare collected All-Conference Second Team accolades last season after leading VCU in points per game (16). She scored in double figures in 25 out games while making 29 starts and 30 total appearances. The senior guard also averaged 4.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.
The 2025-26 A-10 women’s basketball season begins Monday, November 3rd with a 10-game slate.
