WASHINGTON -- The Atlantic 10 Conference has named George Mason's sophomore guard Kennedy Harris as its Under Armour Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this year. St. Bonaventure freshman Zoe Shaw was named the Under Armour Rookie of the Week, also for the second time this year. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played on January 20-26.
Harris averaged 26 points on 55.2% shooting, including a career-high 29 points on 64.3% shooting in a come-from-behind win over Davidson. The Hampton, Va. native also shot 75% from behind the arc, including a 6-7 performance against GW on Saturday. The Patriots' leading scorer also led the team in assists this week, averaging 6 per game over the two-win week. With her two 20-point performances this week, Harris now has six 20+-point games and 16 double-digit performances. The Hampton, Va. native was also named the Player of the Week on December 2.
Shaw averaged 20.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 60.7 percent from the field and 44.4 percent from beyond the arc in 36.3 minutes per game over two contests last week for the Bonnies. Wednesday at Saint Joseph's, the Melbourne, Australia native registered 19 points on 8-for-14 shooting to go along with six rebounds and four assists. Saturday at Fordham, Shaw poured in a career-high 22 points, shooting 9-for-14 from the field to go with five rebounds in 38 minutes. This is Shaw's second Rookie of the Week honor this season, also winning on December 23.
