WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Davidson junior Reed Bailey as Under Armour Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Dayton freshman Amaël L’etang was chosen as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played Jan. 20-26.
The league's leading scorer recorded his sixth and seventh straight 20+ point performances during a split week for the Wildcats. Bailey scored a career high with 32 pts during a win at Richmond. He shot 11-for-17 (.647) from the floor and 4-4 from beyond the arc in the win. Earlier in the week the forward from Harvard, Mass., dropped 25 points on 10-of-23 (.435) with five rebounds and three assists versus Saint Joseph’s. He averaged 28.5 points on 21-40 (.525) shooting and 5-for-8 (.625) from 3-point range in the two games.
L'Etang had two double-digit games in Dayton’s two wins this week, scoring 16 points at Duquesne and 14 versus Saint Joseph's. The seven-foot forward from Toulouse, France, averaged 15.0 points and 5.0 rebounds, while shooting .522 (12-of-23) from the field and .333 (4-for-12) from 3-point range for the week. He had four rebounds and one assists at Duquesne, followed by six rebounds and two assists against Saint Joseph’s.
