Moore, Mendoza, Acosta Earn Weekly #A10WSOC Accolades

WASHINGTON --  The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Duquesne junior Brianna Moore it's Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Massachusetts redshirt senior Bella Mendoza nabbed Defensive honors. Fordham freshman Julia Acosta was named Rookie of the Week. The awards, announced Monday, are for games played September 2 - 8. 

In helping the Dukes stay perfect at home with a pair of wins last week, Moore registered nine points thanks to four goals and an assist. The Palmerton, Pa. native tallied a brace in wins over Slippery Rock and Kent State, including the eventual game-winning goal against the Golden Flashes. Moore helped Duquesne earn a 7-0 win over the Rock with her first two goals of the season, then added two goals and an assist in the win over Kent State. She gave Duquesne a 1-0 advantage right before halftime against the Golden Flashes, then helped the Dukes grab a 2-0 lead by feeding Margey Brown for her team-high seventh marker of the season. Moore ranks second on the Dukes in scoring.
  Mendoza and the Minutewomen went 2-0 on the week, as Mendoza collected her third and fourth shutouts of the year with a 4-0 win against Northeastern and a 3-0 win at Bryant. The San Ramon, Calif. native allowed no goals and had a 1.000 save percentage. Against Northeastern, Mendoza native made two saves, while stopping three shots at Bryant. The two shutouts also marked the 14th and 15th of her career. UMass has four clean sheets in its last five games.  Acosta was a big part of Fordham's 2-0 week on the road, scoring three goals in the two matches. The Riverside, Conn. native capped the Rams' win at Stonehill with a free kick goal from 24 yards for her third marker of the season. The freshman then twice, including the game-winning goal, in the Rams' 3-2 win at Yale, which was Fordham's first-ever win against Yale. She now has a team-high five goals this season.
