WASHINGTON -- The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Saint Louis senior Emily Gaebe it's Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while her teammate graduate student Emily Puricelli and VCU senior Allison Karpovich split Defensive honors. Loyola Chicago freshman Allison Deardorff was named Rookie of the Week. The awards, announced Monday, are for games played September 9-15.
In Saint Louis' only game of the week, Gaebe scored the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute, breaking a 2-2 tie, and assisted on SLU's first two goals in the Billikens' 3-2 victory at 16th-ranked Xavier. This is Gaebe's second weekly honor of the year.
Gaebe's teammate, Puricelli made 10 saves, the most by an A-10 goalkeeper this season and the third-highest total of her career to help the Billikens to a 3-2 victory at 16th-ranked Xavier. This is Puricelli's second weekly honor of the year.
Karpovich posted a career high nine saves for the shutout in the Rams' victory over UNCW. The Virginia Beach, Va. native kept the game scoreless in a 0-0 bout until the Rams offense took off for three goals in the second half. This is the seniors' fifth career shutout.
Deardorff tallied a career and season high seven saves and fourth shutout against Eastern Michigan on Sunday, Sept. 15, helping the Ramblers maintain a 5-0 non-conference home record. The Itasca, Ill. native then shut out then-No. 5 Michigan State until the 84th minute on Thursday, Sept. 8 and recorded six saves. This is Deardorff's second weekly honor of the season.
