BRONX, NY -- In the first elimination game of the 2024 Atlantic 10 Softball Championship, No. 6 Saint Joseph's used a complete game, four hit, one run performance in the circle by Taylor Trowbridge to defeat No. 4 Fordham 4-1 in game three Wednesday.
Trowbridge went the distance to limit the Ram offense that only managed four hits and seven base runners in the contest. The game was held scoreless after one before the Hawks had their biggest inning of the night in the second inning, scoring the first three runs of the contest.
A Shelby LaMont sacrifice fly put the first run of the game across after Haley McMenamin led off with a single and Sierra Fretz followed with a double to set the table. Shelby LaMont and Gianna Muhaw followed with RBI knocks to give the Hawks a 3-0 lead.
In the bottom half. Eva Koratsis blasted a solo home run over the right field fence to give Fordham their only run of the game.
The Hawks got an insurance run in the sixth as Muhaw brought home another on a fielders choice to ultimately take the contest 4-1.
Saint Joseph's advances to play tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. against the lowest seeded losing team of the first two contests of the day. Fordham ends their season at 25-29-1.
