WASHINGTON -- The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Dayton junior Maddie Kapsimalis as its Softball Player of the Week. George Mason senior Carly Cooper was selected as the Pitcher of the Week, while Saint Louis freshman Abby Ulsas was chosen as the Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. The awards were announced Tuesday and are for games played March 25-31.

Kapsimalis led the Flyers with a .533 average in five starts for Dayton this past week. The second baseman recorded eight hits, including two doubles and four home runs - two of which were grand slams, while also drawing three walks, scoring five runs and collecting 13 RBI. On Tuesday, Kapsimalis went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored at Kentucky, highlighted by a solo homer in the top of the sixth. The Glenview, Ill. native then had a 3-for-5 outing on Friday against Loyola-Chicago, which featured two home runs, including a walk-off grand slam, for a total of seven RBI on the day. Kapsimalis' second grand slam of the weekend came in Saturday's nightcap win over the Ramblers as she went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two walks. The junior currently boasts a 20-game reached-base streak which is tied for third-longest active streak in DI.

Cooper pitched 14 innings over four starts and had a 1.50 ERA on the week. After pitching a 10-pitch perfect inning against #12/13 Missouri, the Seneca Rocks, WVa. native followed it up with a six-inning shutout win against Fordham the next day, where she struck out five batters. The day after that, Cooper battled the Rams in a pitchers' duel in which she went the distance, struck out five more Rams and allowed zero walks. The senior native finished the week with ten strikeouts and only three runs scored.

Ulsas helped Saint Louis take two of three in its series at George Washington, hitting safely in every game, collecting a team-high five hits and compiling a .417 batting average (5-for-12) from the leadoff spot. In the Billikens' 2-1 victory in the series finale, Ulsas delivered what proved to be the game-winning hit with two outs in the seventh inning.
