Elvis, Maddox Split Final A-10 Men's Basketball Weekly Honors; Rubin Nabs Rookie Accolades

WASHINGTON -- The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Dayton junior Kobe Elvis and George Mason senior Darius Maddox its Co-Men's Basketball Players of the Week. Loyola Chicago freshman Miles Rubin was chosen as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The final weekly awards of the season were announced Monday and are for games played March 4 – March 10.

Elvis scored 10 of his 15 points in the overtime period in Friday's win over VCU that clinched the fourth time a Dayton team had an undefeated home slate in Flyers history. The Brampton, Ontario native drilled back-to-back treys that tied and then gave Dayton the lead for good with 43 seconds to go. For the week, Elvis averaged 18.0 points, 5.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds in two UD wins, while shooting .545 (12-22) FG, .571 (8-14) from three and 1.000 (4-4) from the charity stripe. Elvis scored 21 points and had five assists at Saint Louis on Tuesday, and 15 and 6 against VCU, while also tallying a career-best three steals on Friday.

Maddox averaged 19.5 points, four rebounds, 1.5 steals and shot 63.6 percent from the floor and 57.1 percent from three-point range in two 18-point wins for George Mason. He notched a game-high 21 points and matched his career high with five three-pointers on Wednesday in a 69-51 win at Rhode Island. Then on Saturday, the Bowie, Md. natibe tallied a game-high 18 points on just nine shots as Mason took down A-10 regular season co-champion Richmond in Fairfax.

Rubin put up back-to-back double-figure scoring efforts with a career-high 13 points at Davidson and another 10 vs. La Salle in a 2-0 week for Loyola to help the Ramblers clinch a share of the regular season title. The Chicago, Ill. native averaged 11.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg, and 5.5 bpg. Rubin went 6-for-9 from the field at Davidson, tallied nine boards, five blocks and two steals. At home against La Salle, Rubin went 4-for-5 and tallied four boards and a career-high six blocks, placing him sixth on the Loyola's single-game blocks list. With his first block of the game, he became Loyola's single season record holder with 72 and counting (previous was 66).

George Mason's Baraka Okojie averaged 8.5 points, 4.5 assists, 2.0 steals and shot 50 percent in two 18-point wins for George Mason ... George Washington's James Bishop IV rounded out the regular season in style, avearaging 22.0 ppg, 5.0 apg and 2.0 rpg while shooting 45% from the floor (14/31), 37.5% from 3 (6/16) and a perfect 10/10 at the free throw lines in two games while playing 74 of a possible 80 minutes. ... George Washington's Darren Buchanan Jr. averaged 16.5 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 2.5 apg and 2.5 spg while shooting 56.5% (13/23) from the field and 60% (3/5) from 3-point range while playing 70 of a possible 80 minutes in GW's two games this week ... Loyola Chicago's Des Watson averaged 12.0 ppg, three rpg, four apg, and one spg while tallying.13 at Davidson with a team-high five assists and two steals and adding 11 points, four boards, and three assists vs. La Salle ... Rhode Island's David Green averaged 13.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game over two contests, posting 16 and five against George Mason and 10 and five at Fordham ...
