Richmond's Townsend Named A-10 Player of the Week, Davidson's Donovan & Mason’s Harris Split Rookie Accolades

WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference selected Richmond senior Grace Townsend as the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, while Davidson's Katie Donovan and George Mason’s Kennedy Harris split this week's Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors. The awards were announced Monday following the conclusion of the 15th week of contests played Feb. 12 – Feb. 18.
 
Townsend helped lead the Spiders to two hard-fought wins this week to remain atop the A-10 standings, a 65-58 win at VCU on Wednesday and a 75-71 win over Loyola Chicago on Saturday. Townsend averaged 17.5 points over the two games, including 23 against VCU and went a perfect 19-of-19 from the free throw line. The Midlothian, Va. native also added 12 rebounds, 10 assists and three steals over the two games. Richmond has won 19 home games in a row dating back to last season, the sixth-longest streak in the nation.

Donovan led Davidson to a big win over George Mason and a 1-1 week, posting 23 points, seven rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal, while shooting .563 from the field. Against Rhode Island, Donovan posted 16 points and six rebounds while the freshman had seven points in the Wildcats win over Mason. This is Donovan's first Rookie of the Week honor of the season. 
 
Harris started the first two games of her career this week, posting 14 points, four rebounds and an assist, including going 6-6 from the free throw line to match a career-high at Davidson. The following game against George Washington, the rookie posted five points, three steals, three rebounds and an assist. Overall for the week, Harris averaged 9.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and one assist. This is the fourth Rookie of the Week honor of the season for the Hampton, Va. native, trailing only her teammate Zahirah Walton, who has five accolades. Harris has helped lead George Mason to their first 20-win season since 2018 and matched the program best 11 Atlantic 10 wins on Saturday.

Duquesne’s Megan McConnell averaged 15 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and 3.5 steals while shooting 50.0 percent from the floor to extend the Dukes winning streak to five, while positing her seventh double-double of the season, with 20 points and 13 rebounds in a win at St. Bonaventure … Fordham’s Taya Davis led the Rams' to a win with a career-high 25 points on 9-of-12 shooting, while also shooting 7-of-10 from the free-throw line and tallying four rebounds, four assists and a steal … George Mason’s Ta’Viyanna Habib averaged 15.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and two steals while shooting .440 (11-25) from the field and .727 (8-11) from the free throw line in a 1-1 week for the Patriots … George Washington’s Mayowa Taiwo pulled down 25 rebounds over two games to go with 16 points, seven assists, three steals and a block … Loyola Chicago’s Alyssa Fisher scored 23 points against at Saint Louis and 16 at Richmond for an average of 19.5, while grabbing four boards and three steals … St. Bonaventure’s Isabella Middleton averaged 12.5 points and 7.5 rebounds while playing 30.6 minutes per game over two contests last week for the Bonnies … Saint Joseph’s Talya Brugler helped the Hawks to a 2-0 week with wins over Dayton and La Salle, averaging 18 points, five rebounds and 4.5 assists, scoring 20 against Dayton and 16 against La Salle … Saint Louis’ Brooklyn Gray matched her career-high of 22 points on Wednesday, leading the team and boosting the Billikens to a victory over Loyola Chicago and scored 12 points against Duquesne
