Rhode Island's Kaur, Davidson's Lienafa Earn First Conference Play #A10WBB Weekly Awards

WASHINGTON -- The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Rhode Island senior Harsimran "Honey" Kaur as its Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Davidson freshman Candice Lienafa was chosen as the league’s Rookie of the Week, her second of the year. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played December 29.

Kaur led the Rams to their A-10 opener Sunday, scoring a career-best 27 points. The center shot the lights out from three, connecting on 5-of-7 from deep. The Punjab, India native added 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season and second in as many games. Kaur helped lead Rhode Island to a resounding 83-63 win over Saint Louis.  Lienafa helped pace the Wildcats to a 76-70 win over Duquesne Sunday afternoon to open A-10 competition. The Quebec, Canada native scored 12 points off the bench for Davidson on a 5-of-8 shooting performance, while collecting six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 20 minutes of action. Davidson's Katie Donovan scored a team-high 25 points on a 10-of-15 shooting performance including 2-of-3 from 3-point range, collecting five rebounds, one assist and one steal in 37 minutes of action ... Duquesne's Megan McConnell finished with 29 points, six rebounds, three assists, and one steal, netting 22 of her 29 points in the second half, 20 of them coming in the fourth quarter alone ... Fordham's Taylor Donaldson led the Rams in points (25), three pointers (15) and steals (three), the third game in a row where she's scored 24+ points ... George Washington's Paige Mott recorded a game-high 18 points, shooting 9-for-11 from the field and grabbing 10 rebounds for her second consecutive double-double ... La Salle's Ashleigh Connor led the Explorers with 12 points and four assists against George Washington, scoring La Salle's first five points of the game ... Massachusetts' Allie Palmieri scored a career-high 31 points on 9-17 from the field, 6-10 from three, and 7-8 from the foul line in a win over Fordham ... St. Bonaventure's Dani Haskell tallied 14 points in 27 minutes for the Bonnies, finishing 6-for-16 from the field ... Bonnies Zoe Shaw tallied 10 points, four rebounds and three assists in St. Bonaventure's A-10 opener ... Saint Joseph's Mackenzie Smith scored 17 of her team-high 25 points in the second half to help secure an opening conference win against VCU
