DAYTON, Ohio – Emma Pedolzky scored the game winning goal in the final minutes for Massachusetts as the No. 3 seeded Minutewomen defeated second-seeded Dayton, 2-1 in the Atlantic 10 Women’s Soccer Semifinals on Wednesday.
Tied at one, Pedolzky received an assist from Atlantic 10 Midfielder of the Year Bella Recinos to seal the victory for UMass (14-4-3) during the 88th minute. It’s Pedolzky’s fifth goal of the season and Recinos’ fourth assist.
Massachusetts struck first at the 13th minute in the first half. Karina Groff netted her fourth goal of the season on an assist from Ella Curry. Dayton (14-4-2) tied it at one on an own goal by UMass at the 42nd minute.
The third-seeded Minutewomen advance to their first A-10 Women’s Soccer Championship finalsince 2021. UMass will travel to No. 1 Saint Louis on Sunday, with a 1 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. CT start time. The Minutewomen are looking for their first Atlantic 10 Championship since 1997.
