Davidson Offense Controls Close Contests, as 'Cats Advance to A-10 Semis

DAYTON, Ohio – Fourth seeded Davidson had four players with double-digit kills and hit .260 as a team to top No. 5 George Washington, 3-1 (25-21, 20-25, 25-21, 25-19) in the Atlantic 10 Volleyball quarterfinals at Frericks Center.

The Wildcats (16-14) advance to the semifinals to face Dayton, the A-10 regular season champion and tournament top seed.  

Isabel Decker and Anna Withee each had 14 kills for Davidson, and Decker also added 11 dogs for a double-double. Meile Songaila had 13 kills and Emma Slusser tallied 11 kills and hit a team high .400. A-10 Libero of the Year Jordan Hummel recorded a match-high 26 digs.

All four sets were close, back-and-forth affairs. Davidson managed to build small cushions in sets first, third and fourth sets, while GW did the same in set two.

MC Daubendiek led the Revolutionaries with 14 kills, hitting a match-high .423. Salem Yohannes had 10 digs for the Revs and Cianna Tejada had nine blocks, also a match high.
