AMHERST, Mass. -- The No. 3 seeded Massachusetts Minutewomen used an early olimpico goal from graduate midfielder Ella Curry and never looked back, blanking No. 6 Loyola Chicago to advance to the Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Semifinals.
UMass advances to 12-4-3 and will play in its first A-10 Semifinal since 2021 on Wednesday night against either No. 2 Dayton or No. 5 Saint Joseph's. Loyola Chicago finishes its 2024 campaign at 9-5-5.
Curry notched the only tally of the contest just 8:10 into the game, finding the bottom right corner of the net off a corner kick. UMass was outshot by Loyola, 9-6, but three saves by UMass goalkeeper Bella Mendoza kept the Ramblers off the board.
Zoe Hevey led the offensive attack for Loyola Chicago with four shots including two on goal. The Loyola defense was fantastic in this game, only allowing six shots and four corners.
This is the fourth-straight game recording a point for UMass, dating back to October 13.
