WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference recognized Saint Joseph's senior Talya Brugler for the second-straight week the league’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week while Davidson freshman Candice Lienafa locked down the second Rookie laurels of the season. The awards were announced Monday following the conclusion of the second week of contests played November 11-17.
Brugler scored 21 points to lead the Hawks to a win over Big 5 rival Penn, while adding 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season and the seventh of her career. The Nazareth, Pa. native shot the ball 9-17 in the contest for 52.9 field goal percentage. This is the second-straight week Brugler has earned Atlantic 10 Player of the Week laurels and the third time in her career.
Lienafa helped lead Davidson to a 1-1 week with a 74-63 win over Wofford Saturday. The Quebec, Canada native averaged 13.5 points after scoring a career-best 18 points at Cincinnati earlier in the week. The freshman shot an efficient .647 from the floor and .500 from 3-point range, making her first career start against Wofford.
