Game Notes Saint Louis | Kansas

•Two of the nation's hottest teams meet Friday, Nov. 15, as Saint Louis, a No. 8 seed, hosts Kansas in an NCAA Championship first-round game at Hermann Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
•Live streaming and live stats are available. See the links above.
•After winning the Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season crown for a sixth time in seven years, SLU claimed a seventh straight A-10 Championship title by defeating Davidson 2-0 in the quarterfinals, Saint Joseph's 2-0 in the semifinals and Massachusetts 3-1 in the final. Those wins extended the Bills' unbeaten streak to 16 (12-0-4).
•Kansas tied for sixth place in the Big 12 Conference but caught fire to claim an automatic NCAA bid. The Jayhawks topped Arizona State 2-1, West Virginia 1-0 (2 OT), Texas Tech 2-1 and TCU 1-0 in the Big 12 Championship. Kansas owns an eight-game winning streak, tied for the second-longest current streak in NCAA Division I.
•The team advancing from Friday's game likely will face USC in the round of 32. USC is a No. 1 seed and would host second- and third-round games Nov. 22 and 24 should the Trojans advance past first-round opponent Sacramento State.
•Kansas leads the series 5-1-1 and has won three straight. The teams last met in 2021, a 2-0 Jayhawks victory in Lawrence.
•The most recent meeting in St. Louis occurred in 2017 and resulted in a 1-1 draw in front of 5,205 fans at Hermann Stadium, a record attendance for a collegiate women's soccer game in the state of Missouri.
•Friday's meeting is the second between SLU and Kansas in the NCAA Championship. In a 2018 first-round game, the Jayhawks prevailed 2-1 in double overtime in Lawrence.
•BYU was the only common opponent for Saint Louis and Kansas this season. The Billikens tied the Cougars 1-1 Aug. 22 in St. Louis, while the Jayhawks battled BYU to a 2-2 draw Oct. 10 in Lawrence.
•Saint Louis re-entered the Top Drawer Soccer national rankings this week, landing at No. 21.
•SLU is competing in its ninth NCAA Championship overall and seventh in succession. Last year's victories over Indiana and Georgetown sent the Billikens to the "Sweet 16" for the first time.
•Emily Gaebe leads Saint Louis with 15 goals and 34 points. Lyndsey Heckel is second with six goals, while Julia Simon, Hannah Sawyer, Hope Kim and Audrey Smith have four goals each. Hannah Larson (six), Katie Houck (five) and Gaebe (four) are the Billikens' assists leaders.
•Emily Puricelli has a 0.51 goals against average, an .863 save percentage and 10 shutouts. Puricelli has allowed just two goals over the last nine games.
•Junior forward Lexi Watts (nine), freshman midfielder Jillian Gregorski (eight) and redshirt-sophomore forward/midfielder Saige Wimes (five) are Kansas' leading goal-scorers. Wimes and redshirt-senior midfielder Makayla Merlo have a team-high seven assists apiece, and sophomore defender/midfielder Caroline Castans has six helpers.
