Ullstrom, Brugler Split First Player of the Week Honors; Reynolds Earns Rookie Nod

WASHINGTON -- The Atlantic 10 Conference has named both Richmond junior Rachel Ullstrom and Saint Joseph's senior Talya Brugler as its Co-Women's Basketball Players of the Week. George Washington freshman Gabby Reynolds was chosen as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards, which are the first of the season, were announced Monday and are for games played Nov. 4-10.

Ullstrom shined in the first week of competition as the junior posted a career-high 32 points in the Spiders 79-72 season-opening win at Temple on November 4 The Auburn, Mass. native finished the game with five steals, a block and six rebounds in addition to shooting 9-11 from the field, 4-5 from deep and a perfect 10-10 from the charity stripe, becoming the first Spider to post 30 or more points since 2016 (Micaela Parson – 33, 3/2/16) and  the second Spider with 30 points and an 80 FG% in the last 20 years (Rachel Bliney - Jan. 11, 2012). In the win against Morgan State, the Atlantic 10 Preseason Second Team All-Conference honoree again ended shooting in double figures, posting 11 points on 4-8 from the field and adding a trey. For the week, Ullstrom posted 43 points, seven steals and had a 68.4 FG% and 55.6 3FG%.
  Brugler recorded a 13-point, 13-rebound double-double in just 22 minutes against Goldey-Beacom, adding three assists and three steals in the win. The Nazareth, Pa. native then knocked down 29 points in the win over Syracuse, setting a career-high with five three-pointers (5-6) against the Orange. The A-10 Preseason First Team All-Conference selection notched six rebounds and three assists in the win. Brugler averaged a .625/.714/1.000 on the week for 21.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Reynolds averaged 19.5 points in her first two collegiate games, which ranks first among rookies and fifth overall in the conference. In Monday's season-opening win against Delaware, the Holland, Mich. native poured in 17 points, orchestrating GW's offense and shooting an efficient 7-for-10 from the field. On Friday against Howard, Reynolds followed it up with 22 points and eight rebounds, leading all scorers in the contest.
