WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced Dayton sophomore Martin Bakken and George Mason graduate student Marek Gondaas its Men’s Soccer Co-Offensive Players of the Week. Rhode Island senior Edu Rodriguez was selected as its Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, while Dayton freshman Andrew Armstrong was tabbed as the Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week. The awards, which were announced on Tuesday, are for games played from Sept. 30 to Oct. 6.

Bakken recorded his first career hat trick with three goals to go with an assist in the victory over George Washington last week. The Norwegian forward totaled seven points, giving him a team-high 13 points on the year, which ranks second in the A-10. He was able to do all that in just 77 minutes of action as well. Gonda scored two goals in the second half to lift the Patriots to their fourth straight win, with a 2-1 victory over La Salle on Saturday. The
Schaumburg, Ill. native scored his third game-winner of the season in the 83rd minute and also scored the first goal of the match when he converted a penalty kick in the 49th minute. The graduate student leads the club in goals (6) and game-winning goals (3) and has scored in three straight matches with five goals in that span, including two goals in each of the last two games.
Rodriguez posted a pair of shutouts on the week, helping Rhode Island go 1-0-1 on the week. The Madrid, Spain native made a season-high seven saves in the team's 1-0 win at Loyola Chicago, his fifth shutout in eight starts. Earlier in the week, Rodriguez shutout Bryant in a non-conference match against a team that had scored 13 goals in 10 previous matches. The senior leads the country in save percentage at .902.

Armstrong scored a brace and chipped in an assist in Dayton's 7-1 win over George Washington last Saturday. The freshman forward only needed 64 minutes to record five points and picked up the game-winning goal with his strike in the 24th minute. The Pompton Lakes, N.J. native has now started the past two games for the Flyers, who have not lost since Aug. 25.
