NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Dayton sophomore DaRon Holmes II as its Men's Basketball Player of the Week. George Washington freshman Maximus Edwards and St. Bonaventure freshman Yann Farell were named Co-Rookies of the Week.  The awards were announced Monday and are for games played Feb. 20-26.
 
Holmes, a forward, averaged 28.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 blocked shots in two games last week. He shot .645 (20-for-31) from the field and .696 (16-of-23) from the line. A Goodyear, Ariz., native, he scored 22 points in a win at UMass on Wednesday, and then tallied a career-high 34 points Saturday against George Mason. He is the only player in the top four in the A-10 in scoring and rebounding. He leads D-I in dunks (76).
 
Edwards, a guard from Stratford, Conn., was instrumental in GW's 2-0 week, averaging 11.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 47.4 percent (9-of-19) from the floor and 40 percent (4-for-10) from beyond the arc. Edwards played all but three minutes in Wednesday's overtime victory at Rhode Island, scoring 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting (including sinking three 3-pointers) with five rebounds and four assists. Edward then posted an all-around effort of seven points, six rebounds and an assist in GW's win over La Salle Saturday.
 
Farell averaged 11.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, shot 46.7 percent (7-of-15) from the field and 50 percent (6-of-12) from the 3-point range in two games this week. He posted 13 points, five rebounds, two blocks and an assist in a win over Saint Joseph's on Sunday for his 14th game in double-figure scoring this season. The forward from Libreville, Gabon also nine points at Davidson, with four rebounds and a steal.

Foster Loyer had two strong games for Davidson, averaging 21 points and 4.0 assists, including 27 against St. Bonaventure in a pair of Wildcat wins … Duquesne’s Joe Reece averaged 16.0 points and 6.5 rebounds on .667 shooting in two games last week, highlighted by a career-high 26 performance (11-of-13) at La Salle … Darius Quisenberry averaged 20.0 points and 4.0 rebounds for Fordham, including swishing seven triples and scoring 26 at Loyola … George Mason’s Ronald Polite III scored 22 points on 6-of-11 (.545) shooting with six assists and two steals in a win at Dayton … George Washington’s James Bishop had a stellar week, with 27 points and 7.5 assist per game while adding two blocks and three steals to lead the Colonials to back-to-back victories  … GW’s Hunter Dean averaged 19.0 points and 10.0 rebounds while shooting 82 percent from the field and 71 percent from the free throw line in GW's 2-0 week … La Salle’s Josh Nickelberry scored 28 points on six made 3-pointers, with four rebounds against Duquesne, and then added 13 points at GW  … Ishmael Leggett averaged 22.0 points, 6.5 rebounds 2.5 steals and 2.0 assists for Rhode Island, shooting 50.0 percent from 3-point range (6-for-12) and was 83.3 percent (10-for-12) at the free throw line … Rhody’s Malik Martin averaged 19.0 points and 8.0 rebounds to go with four assists, three blocks and two steals over two games … Richmond freshman Jason Nelson scored all 17 of his points versus Saint Louis in the second half to spur a 15-point comeback, and he hit a 3-pointer with 25 seconds remaining that helped ice the UR win …  Daryl Banks III had a monster game versus Saint Joseph’s scoring 36 points with four rebounds and three assists, hitting four tripes and 12-of15 free throws to lead the Bonnies to a win … Erik Reynolds II had a career high 33 points at St. Bonaventure, and scored 21 versus VCU earlier in the week to average 27.0 points per game ...  Gibson Jimerson averaged 20 points per game for Saint Louis, with 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, tallying three 3-pointer in each game and shooting 53.6 percent (15-of-28) from the field in a split week.
