NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Fordham senior Taylor Donaldson its Women's Basketball Player of the Week. VCU freshman Zoli Khalil was chosen as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played Nov. 27 - Dec. 3.
In a pair of games last week Fordham senior Taylor Donaldson averaged 28.0 points per game while shooting an even 50 percent both from the field and beyond the arc. The guard from Newbury Park, Calif., also averaged six rebounds and 3.5 steals per game, as she began the week with a career-high 35 point showing as the Rams defeated Saint Peter's 80-46. Shooting 12-for-19 (.632) in the game with seven three pointers, she also pulled down nine boards in that game.
Khalil scored 11 points in VCU's 57-49 win over Charlotte on Saturday in her second career start. The win helped VCU to a 7-1 record and its best start since 2013-14. The guard from Rockingham, Va., was 3-of-5 (.600) from the floor and also grabbed two rebounds.
