NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced Saint Louis sophomore Emily Gaebe as the league’s Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Additionally, Davidson redshirt senior Mary Grace Bunch along with VCU senior Whitney Horton captured Co-Defensive Player of the Week laurels. Finally, VCU freshman teammate Kendyl Sarver garnered her second-ever Rookie of the Week honors. The awards were announced Monday following the conclusion of the sixth week of contests played Sept. 19-25.
 
Gaebe, a forward out of Union, Mo., played a role in two key goals for the Billikens this week, initially offering Saint Louis its first lead of the match in a victory over Loyola Chicago and before dishing out an assist in the lone score at Duquesne. The sophomore’s unassisted goal versus Loyola, scored following a long run, came less than three minutes after SLU tied the game, eventually helping the Billikens to a dramatic 3-2 win. In the late weekend clash against the Dukes, Gaebe assisted Abbie Miller as Saint Louis recorded a 1-0 win.
 
Hailing from Raleigh, N.C., Bunch competed in all 180 minutes between the pipes, finishing with a 2-0 record behind 9 saves as the Wildcats knocked off both Rhode Island and St. Bonaventure via shutouts. Notably, the redshirt senior grabbed six stops against the Rams, including four throughout the final eight minutes to preserve the clean sheet.
 
Horton composed a pair of strong efforts as well in net for VCU, leading the Rams to back-to-back shutout victories over St. Bonaventure and La Salle. The Yorktown, Va., product swiped four saves in each contest en route to her fifth and sixth clean sheets of the campaign.
 
Sarver, a native of Eldersburg, Md., got involved in both of the Rams’ goals in Thursday’s 2-0 victory over Bona, initially recording the game-winner just 10 minutes into the contest before later assisting on the insurance score in the 40th minute. For the week, the freshman registered eight total shots with three coming on goal.
