NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Dayton junior Amelia Moore was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Volleyball Player of the Week Monday, while Davidson junior Bella Brady was selected as Defensive Player of the Week. Fordham freshman Audrey Brown was named Rookie of the Week. The awards, which are the first of the season, include matches in the opening weekend of play.

Moore, a middle blocker from Ocean Springs, Miss., helped lead Dayton to a 2-1 opening weekend at Cincinnati's Tribute to #10 Tournament over the weekend. She averaged 2.23 kills per set, 1.23 blocks per set and 3.12 points per set with wins over Cincinnati and Illinois State and a 3-1 loss to (RV) Florida State. To open the season, Moore posted nine kills, six blocks, four digs and a service in a 3-1 win over Cincinnati. In the loss to the Seminoles, Moore tallied 10 kills while swinging at .474 to go with five blocks. In Saturday's nightcap win over Illinois State, she again recorded 10 kills and five blocks to go with two service aces.

Brady led Davidson to a 2-1 opening weekend, as the 'Cats picked up a win over UNCW and the first win over Virginia Tech in program history. Against UNCW, the libero from Winter Park, Fla., matched her career-high with 36 digs and was just one dig short of tying the Hanover Hall (UNCW arena) record for most digs in a four-set match (previously set by Lopez Pereira of VCU in Oct. 2004). Over the three-match weekend, Brady averaged 5.09 digs per set while dishing 11 assists. She also had two service aces.

Brown, an outside hitter form Birmingham, Mich., was tremendous in her first two collegiate career matches, starting both, and helping the Rams to a 1-1 record. In the win over Quinnipiac, Brown was efficient with 22 kills at a .556 clip and added four digs and a block. She contributed 18 more kills in a loss to Stony Brook but also racked up a match-high eight blocks, plus 10 digs, falling just short of a triple-double. For the weekend, she averaged an even 4.0 kills, 1.40 digs, and 0.90 blocks per set.
