FAIRFAX, Va. – Reinforced by a lethal effort in the circle by junior Devon Miller, second-seeded Fordham (29-19) orchestrated a critical shutout of No. 1 overall George Washington in Friday's Atlantic 10 Championship Semifinals, locking down the Colonial offense throughout en route to a narrow 1-0 win Friday afternoon at the George Mason Softball Complex.

Victory in hand, the Rams secure the advantageous position in Saturday's upcoming A-10 Softball Championship Final, facing the winner of the consolation bracket at the George Mason Softball Complex, first pitch slated for noon. George Washington, meanwhile, slides into the consolation bracket, squaring off against the victory between No. 3 Saint Joseph's and fifth overall Dayton on Friday evening at 5:00 pm. Both contests will be broadcast live via ESPN+.

Miller (10-10), who handled all 7.0 frames inside the circle for Fordham, successfully managed to keep GW off the base paths, allowing just three total hits while walking one and plunking another during the shutout. The junior also set down three batters on strikes while tossing 108 pitches overall, securing her 10th win of the 2022 campaign.

Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Year Sierra Lange (25-8) proved equally as effective for George Washington, surrendering just one run on three hits while walking a pair and striking another for a hit-by-pitch. The graduate student notched six strikeouts of her own, logging 102 pitches for the contest.

The lone score for the Rams crossed home early in the third inning, as two of Lange's three given up hits came via doubles from Amanda Carey and Brianna Pinto over the course of the three at-bats. Carey led off with long shot off the left-center wall, ricocheting the pitch off the top of the divider and back into the field of play before Pinto nearly replicated the exact result minutes later for the RBI.
