NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference named George Mason junior Haley Taormina the A-10 Softball Player of the Week. Fordham sophomore Bailey Enoch earned Pitcher of the Week honors while Dayton freshman Emma Schutter collected the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played April 11-17.

Taormina went 5-for-11 at the plate over the last week (3-for-7 in conference), slashing .455 / .571 / 1.182 in a 3-1 week for the Patriots. The utility player from Chesapeake, Va., went a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate in the win over George Washington and was walked twice in that game. She tallied two doubles and two home runs and scored a total of five runs for Mason last week.

Enoch had two fantastic starts in the circle, both wins in a 2-2 week for the Rams. First in a midweek nonconference game at Hofstra, Enoch allowed two first-inning unearned runs, and then shut the Pride bats down over a total of six innings, striking out two and allowing four hits. Then in the series finale against Saint Joseph's, the right hander from Burlington Township, N.J., produced her first career shutout while matching her career-high of eight strikeouts. Enoch allowed just four hits and a walk on the day.

Schutter posted a .455 average over a 2-1 weekend at Saint Louis. She posted back-to-back multi-hit games after going 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored in game two on Friday and followed that with a 3-for-4 outing including her second home run of the season. Schutter posted a .500 on-base percentage and .727 slugging percentage for the weekend. It was the second straight rookie award for the outfielder from Dayton, Ohio.
