NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced St. Bonaventure senior Asianae Johnson as the league’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week while Saint Joseph’s freshman Talya Brugler secured her fourth overall and second consecutive Rookie of the Week laurels. The awards were announced Monday following the conclusion of the 13th week of contests played Jan. 31 – Feb. 6.
 
Johnson, a guard hailing from Brooklyn, N.Y., averaged 24.0 points across a two-game home stretch for SBU, propelling a surging Bonnies squad to back-to-back victories over George Washington and Richmond. Johnson finished the week shooting 55.9 percent (19-for-34) from the field and 90.9 percent (10-for-11) from the free throw line, two of which pushed Bona over the edge in Wednesday's 50-49 barn burner against the Colonials. The senior tallied 20 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the field to go along with four rebounds in that contest, converting the tying and go-ahead free throws with four seconds left in regulation. In Saturday's victory against the Spiders, Johnson logged 22 of her game-high 28 points in the second half as the Bonnies rallied to a hard-fought win, hitting on nine of her final 10 shots in order to clinch the back-and-forth game.
 
In a 2-1 week for the Hawks, Brugler continued to showcase her value to Saint Joseph’s both on the scoreboard (13.7 ppg) and the glass (9.7 rpg), all while shooting 56.0 percent (14-of-25) overall, a blazing 57.1 percent (4-of-7) from beyond the arc and a consistent 81.8 percent (9-of-11) at the charity stripe. The Nazareth, Pa., product posted at least eight points and corralled at least six rebounds in all three matchups. Notably, the freshman forward paced SJU in the weekend home-and-home sweep over Davidson, initially registering a double-double during the road comeback with 18 points and a career-high 16 rebounds before dropping 15 points with six boards back home.

Makira Cook tallied a 20.0 point-per-game average behind a 64.3 percent (18-of-28) shooting performance as Dayton pushed the win streak out to 12 games, downing Duquesne and George Mason in a pair of home victories; the sophomore also contributed 6.5 boards per game and six assists across the 2-0 week … Fordham senior Asiah Dingle racked up 24 points with eight boards, three assists and three steals in a do-it-all outing against Duquesne … George Mason’s Tamia Lawhorne averaged 10.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in a split week for the Patriots, initially powering past Davidson on the road before falling to the Flyers … GW freshman Maxine Engel recorded 12.0 points via a 52.6 (10-of-19) percent overall showing from the floor as the Colonials dropped back-to-back contests at St. Bonaventure and VCU; the rookie also swiped three steals and dished out a pair of dimes … Kayla Spruill composed an elite performance across a tough three-game stretch for La Salle, averaging 18.7 points and 6.3 rebounds with five steals and four assists as the Explorers initially topped rival Saint Joseph’s before faltering in close fashion to both VCU and Rhode Island at home … Massachusetts junior Sydney Taylor registered 22 points with eight boards and three assists in the Minutewomen’s lone contest of the week against Saint Louis … Rhode Island’s Emmanuelle Tahane tallied 16.0 points per game with eight total assists across a 2-0 stretch for the Rams, extending URI’s undefeated A-10 win streak out to 11 games … Kate Klimkiewicz put up 13 points and 8.5 rebounds per game as Richmond faltered in an 0-2 week, initially dropping a rivalry clash against VCU before stumbling at St. Bonaventure.
