NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference honored Massachusetts graduate student Sam Breen as the league’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week while Saint Joseph’s freshman Laura Ziegler garnered her fourth straight Rookie accolades, extending the Hawks’ streak out to 13 consecutive weeks dating back to Jan. 5, 2022. The awards were announced Monday following the conclusion of the fourth week of contests played Nov. 28 – Dec. 4.
 
Breen paced the Minutewomen to a 2-1 overall finish on the week, registering victories over Yale and Arizona State before dropping a neutral-site weekend clash to Missouri. The Gibsonia, Pa., product averaged 20.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game, racking up 60 total points across the three-game stretch, including team-highs against Yale (25) and Missouri (19). Breen also recorded her fourth and fifth double-doubles of the season, initially posting a 25 point-15 rebound showing versus the Bulldogs before tallying 16 points and 11 boards at Arizona State. The graduate student also dished out 12 assists, including five against the Sun Devils, while swiping six total steals, matching a career-high of four versus Mizzou.
 
Ziegler, a freshman import out of Herlev, Denmark, closed out the week averaging 7.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game across a 2-0 week for Saint Joseph’s, helping the Hawks remain undefeated as the team moved to 8-0 on the season. In Thursday’s contest against Boston University, the forward scored four points while adding a career-best 12 boards, two assists and the game-saving block on the last defensive possession. Later on Sunday, Ziegler posted 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting in SJU’s rivalry clash against Drexel, grabbing three rebounds and dishing out a pair of assists in the win over the Dragons.

Elle Sutphin averaged 22.0 points with 8.0 boards as the Davidson powered to a 1-1 split on the week, initially faltering to Wofford before later taking down Jacksonville State … Dayton’s Mariah Perez registered a double-double for the week with 15.5 points and 14.5 boards across a two-game stretch … Duquesne sophomore Megan McConnell notably posted her second triple-double of the season in Sunday’s win over Delaware, tallying 12 points with 15 rebounds and 10 assists; McConnell currently leads the NCAA (MBB & WBB) in the category … Kaitlyn Downey averaged a double-double as well as Fordham put together a split against Fairfield and Manhattan, registering 17.0 points and 14.0 boards with five total blocks and four assists … George Mason’s Sonia Smith helped the Patriots to a 2-0 week with victories over East Carolina and American University, dropping 11.0 points per game with nine total assists and three steals … GW graduate student Jayla Thornton recorded a double-double of 23 points and 11 boards as the Colonials picked up a W in their solo contest of the week against Ohio … Nya Robertson assisted George Washington in the victory as well, leading all scorers with 24 points while tacking on three assists and two blocks … La Salle’s Kayla Spruill notched 17.5 points and 5.5 rebounds as the Explorers split against Penn and Lehigh … Mia Jacobs tallied 4.0 points and 6.0 boards with three total steals for La Salle as well … Sam Galanopoulos compiled 11.0 points per game with 4.0 boards across a three-game stretch for Loyola Chicago … Rhode Island’s Mayé Touré racked up 12.5 points with 9.0 rebounds per game as the Rams knocked off both Buffalo and Maine … St. Bonaventure junior Nadechka Laccen tallied 16.0 points and 5.7 boards with a combined 17 assists throughout a three-game week for the Bonnies … Aaniya Webb contributed 4.7 points and 3.0 rebounds with three blocks for Bona as well … Saint Joseph’s Talya Brugler notched 19.0 points per game with 8.5 boards as the Hawks powered to another pair of wins … Saint Louis senior Julia Martinez compiled 14.5 points and 7.5 rebounds averages as the Billikens battled to a split on the week, dropping a road matchup at Mizzou before claiming a win over Illinois State at home.
