ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Top-seeded Saint Louis (11-4-2) survived an instant classic in the Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Championship semifinals against No. 6 overall Dayton (10-3-5), rallying late with a goal at the 76th minute to force a 1-1 draw before outgunning the Flyers behind a 3-1 penalty kick shootout margin late Wednesday evening at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.

With the victory, SLU advances the program's seventh A-10 Men's Soccer Championship title match, hosting league newcomer No. 4 Loyola Chicago at 1 p.m. ET / Noon CT on Sunday, Nov. 13. The contest will be broadcast live via ESPN+.

Dayton consistently controlled the pace of the match throughout, outshooting the Billikens in the first half by a 10-to-1 margin and a 5-to-1 gap in the second. Bolstered by an early goal by Manny Day at the 18th minute, the Flyers maintained possession on the SLU half of the pitch up until a Billikens' set piece at the 76th minute produced an equalizing score off the foot of CJ Coppola; from that point on, however, the momentum shifted firmly towards Saint Louis.

Following a full pair of overtime periods, the match eventually culminated in a penalty kick shootout. Saint Louis opened up with an initial connection, and a save from the Billikens' Carlos Tofern lifted SLU to an early advantage. After a pair of back-to-back makes from SLU and Dayton, Tofern managed to swipe a pair of saves while his attacking teammates netted 1of-2 goals at the three and four positions, securing the win for Saint Louis via a final 3-1 mark.
