Heckel Brace Powers Saint Louis past Loyola, Locks in Bills as Semis Host

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – After enduring a scoreless opening half, Lyndsey Heckel and the Saint Louis attack compiled an electric offensive effort en route to a 3-0 shutout victory of No. 8 Loyola Chicago (8-8-3) in the Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Quarterfinals, utilizing a pair of early-second period goals from the junior defender – first at the 50th minute and again at the 56th minute – as the top-seeded Billikens locked down host duties for the upcoming Semifinal Round.
 
With the field reseeded following the Quarterfinals, SLU (18-1-0) will now face No. 6 Saint Joseph's – the lowest remaining seed in the A-10 Women's Soccer Championship bracket – on Wednesday, Nov. 2, kickoff slated for 7 pm ET / 8 pm CT at Robert R. Hermann Stadium. Meanwhile, second-seeded Dayton will play host to No. 4 Davidson in the league's other Semifinals contest, set for Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 7 pm ET.
 
Statistically, the offensive dominance in favor of Saint Louis shone brightest, as the Billikens outgunned the Ramblers by a final 20 shots to one whlie also tallying an 8-to-0 shots-on-goal total. The SLU offense also generated 11 corner kicks, even adding on a second insurance score by Hannah Sawyer in the 69th minute.
 
Sophia Stram led all shot-takers on the afternoon with five while Heckel, Hannah Larson and Hannah Friedrich each registered four apiece. For Stram, the junior defender notably collected a pair of assists on the day as well, both of which ended in Heckel scores.
 
The Saint Louis victory marks the team's second of the year over Loyola Chicago, who previously challenged the nationally-ranked Billikens for the first time in conference play behind a 3-2 barn burner back on Sept. 22.
