DAVIDSON, N.C. – Mary Grace Bunch made four saves, including back-to-back rapid-fire stops, and No. 4 Davidson scored twice in the first half to earn a 2-0 shutout victory over No. 5 Duquesne in the Atlantic 10 Women’s Soccer Championship quarterfinals Friday night at Alumni Soccer Stadium.
The Wildcats (13-2-4) advance to the semifinals and will either travel to No. 2 Dayton or host No. 6 Saint Joseph’s, depending on the outcome of Saturday’s Saint Louis-Loyola quarterfinal match. The championship is reseeded following the quarterfinals.
Davidson’s Remi White scored first, scoring on a rebound after a perfect cross from Rachel Schleicher fell right between White and Duquesne keeper Maddy Nuendorfer at 17:59. Maddie Moody added the second goal in the 42
nd minute on a set piece from Sophia Caruso.
Nuendorfer matched Bunch with four saves in facing 15 shots, six of which were on goal, and the Dukes (6-7-3) led in corner kicks 7-6. Bunch faces eight shots, four on goal.
