NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference selected La Salle junior Kelli McGroarty along with VCU sophomore Kanna Matsuhisa as the league’s Women’s Soccer Co-Offensive Players of the Week. Additionally, Saint Joseph’s junior Katie Cappelletti garnered Defensive honors while George Mason redshirt freshman Zoë Vidaurre captured Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday following the conclusion of the eighth week of contests played Oct. 3-9.
 
McGroarty, a junior out of Voorhees, N.J., put together a brilliant performance off the bench for La Salle in the team’s lone conference matchup of the week versus Fordham, lacing in back-to-back-to-back goals for a hat trick en route to a 3-1 Explorers victory. Notably, the forward compiled all three scores within a span of 6:54, starting her streak in the 34th minute before ending later in the 41st.
 
Matsuhisa, a sophomore hailing from Tokyo, Japan, composed a clutch outing in VCU’s competitive road clash at Dayton, scoring back-to-back unanswered goals late in the second half as the Rams knocked off the Flyers, 2-1. Initially, the Japanese import laced in an equalizer at the 70 minute mark before, just under 10 minutes later, depositing the eventual game-winner.
 
Cappelletti earned her 13th career shutout in Saint Joseph’s 1-0 victory over Loyola Chicago on Saturday, moving her into sole possession of fourth place all-time in program history. The DeWitt, N.Y., native collected a game-best three saves on the day as well, sealing her fifth clean sheet of the season thus far.
 
Vidaurre recorded the lone Patriots goal in George Mason's narrow loss this week against Richmond, finishing the contest with a perfect shot accuracy. A product of Clarksburg, Md., the redshirt freshman saw all 90 minutes of action in the contest and now leads the team in goals for the year as well.
