Williams, Reynolds, Holmes Earn A-10 Weekly Men's Basketball Honors

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named VCU senior Vince Williams, Jr. the A-10 Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Saint Joseph's freshman Erik Reynolds II and Dayton freshman DaRon Holmes II were selected as the league’s Co-Rookies of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played Jan. 24-30.
 
Williams averaged 19.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists while shooting .682 (15-of-22) from the field, including .556 (5-of-9) from 3-point range in critical A-10 road wins at Davidson and at Richmond. The forward from Toledo scored a career-high 22 points, plus 10 rebounds, eight assists and two blocks, and hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 25.3 seconds left Saturday at Richmond. Earlier in the week, he recorded 16 points, six rebounds and two assists, while shooting 6-of-9 (.667) against the Wildcats.
 
Reynolds averaged 17.3 points, while shooting 51.3 percent from the floor and 41.7 percent from 3-point range, while adding 2.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. At George Mason on Monday, Reynolds finished with 18 points, three assists and two rebounds. The guard from Temple Hills, Md., followed with 13 points and three rebounds in a victory over Duquesne on Wednesday, then poured in a season-high 21 points to go with four assists and three rebounds at St. Bonaventure on Saturday. This is Reynolds' third Rookie of the Week award this season.
 
Holmes averaged 15.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 4.5 blocks while shooting .684 (13-19) from the field in two Dayton wins. Against Fordham, he had a double-double of 19 points and a career-high 12 rebounds, with 12 of his points and eight of his rebounds coming in the second half. On Friday against Rhode Island, he had 12 points (5-of-6 from the field), six rebounds and six blocked shots. The six blocked shots tied the Dayton single-game record, and gave the forward from Goodyear, Ariz., the UD single-season record for blocked shots. This marks Holmes fourth Rookie of the Week award this year.

Davidson's Luka Brajkovic averaged 22.5 points per game, including a 23-point, 12-rebound performance in a thriller of a game against VCU … Toumani Camara tallied 14.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in a pair of wins for Dayton … George Mason's Josh Oduro had a strong week, including a 31-point outing against Saint Joseph's, where he hit 12-of-22 (.545) from the field with five rebounds, three assists and two steals … James Bishop led all scorers in the A-10 this week with 27.5 points per game in a split week for George Washington, including shooting .500 (7-of-14) from 3-point range and .857 (12-of-14) at the line … Jack Clark averaged 17 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game across two games for La Salle … Rich Kelly also averaged 17 points last week, hitting 5-of-9 (.556) from 3-point range with four assists per game … Rhode Island's Makhi Mitchell averaged 10.5 points and 11.5 rebounds over two games for Rhode Island, with a double-double at Dayton and a near double-double vs. Richmond … Yuri Collins registered an eye-popping 11 assists over two wins for Saint Louis, with 11 points and 12 assists against GW and 11 points and 10 assists at Duquesne.
