NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Saint Louis senior Maya Taylor was selected as Atlantic 10 Conference Volleyball Player of the Week while Davidson sophomore Bella Brady earned the A-10 Defensive Player of the Week. Dayton freshman Lia Hawken was chosen as the league's Rookie of the Week.  The awards are for matches played Sept. 20-26.
 
Taylor led Saint Louis to a perfect 2-0 weekend on the road to open Atlantic 10 Conference play, with 44 combined kills at Davidson and VCU. An outside hitter from Idaho Falls, Idaho, she recorded 4.89 kills per set, along with 2.00 digs per set and a total of 5.22 points per set. To open conference play, Taylor neared a double-double, with 19 kills and nine digs at Davidson. At VCU, she came within one of her career high with 25 kills. Taylor hit for a .290 hitting percentage versus the Rams, on her way to leading the Billikens to a five-set road victory. Taylor again neared a double-double, with nine digs. She also added two blocks and a service ace.
 
Brady claimed her fourth A-10 Defensive Player of the Week award, digging 77 balls, with a 7.0 digs per set average and two aces in a 2-1 weekend for the 'Cats. She recorded 29 digs in a loss to Saint Louis, and 25 and 23 in two wins over Fordham and Rhode Island respectively. The libero from Winter Park, Fla., also passed .947 on serve receive and dished eight assists.
 
An outside/right side hitter from Vancouver, Wash., Hawken posted 2.57 kills per set, hit .256, tallied 0.86 blocks per set and averaged 3.07 points per set in two Atlantic 10 wins for Dayton over the weekend. On Friday at George Washington, she tallied a career-high nine kills and five blocks in a 3-1 win over the Colonials. In Saturday's 3-0 win at George Mason, Hawken equaled her career high with nine kills and got under a career-high eight digs.
