RICHMOND, Va. – VCU baseball will play in the Starkville Regional, the NCAA selection committee announced Monday afternoon. The Rams' first game is Friday, June 4 against Campbell at 8 p.m. ET.

VCU earned the Atlantic 10's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with a 7-6 win over Dayton in the A-10 Championship Game Saturday night at The Diamond. After winning the program's third A-10 Regular Season Championship in five years, VCU defeated Saint Joseph's 15-4 Thursday afternoon to advance to the winner's bracket, then beat Rhode Island 10-4 Friday afternoon to move into the championship game.

This is the Rams' second A-10 title since joining the league in 2013, and seventh conference championship since 2002. VCU will be making its 12th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, most recently advancing to the Super Regionals in 2015.

VCU holds the longest active winning streak in the country at 21 games, which is also a program record. Freshman third baseman Tyler Locklear became the first player in A-10 history to win both Player and Rookie of the Year honors this season, while six total Rams were selected on all-conference teams.

Mississippi State and Samford make up the other half of the Starkville Regional. VCU's first round game against Campbell on Friday can be seen on ESPN3.
