Richmond Claims A-10 Men's Cross Country Championship; La Salle's Jaciw-Zaruakowsky Wins Race

MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – Richmond won its first Atlantic 10 Men’s Cross Country title since 2010 and its second 14751overall Saturday afternoon when the Spiders registered 44 points at the A-10 Men’s Cross Country Championship at Pole Green Park, just outside of Richmond, Va.
 
La Salle, the defending champion, finished second with 53 points, anchored by individual winner Luke Jaciw-Zaruakowsky, who led the field with a time of 24:30.4. Jaciw-Zaruakowsky advances to the NCAAs as the A-10 individual winner.
 
Richmond had a pair of top five finishes from the A-10 Rookie of the Year Stuart Terrill, who was second with a 24:31.3 time, and Peter Borger who clocked in at 24:36.9, good for third place.  Spider coach Steve Taylor was named A-10 Coach of the Year, his second A-10 coaching honor and first since 2010.
 
George Mason finished third with 72 points, Saint Joseph’s was fourth with 88 points and George Washington was fifth with 134 points. Dayton (sixth – 149 points), Rhode Island (seventh – 158 points) and Duquesne (eighth – 223 points) rounded out the top eight finishers.
 
In addition to Terrill and Borger, Richmond’s Noah Yuro and Noah Campbell also finished in the top 10, with Yuro placing sixth at 24:41.9 and Campbell in 10th at 24:50.8. Riley Fletcher’s 25:16.5 was good for 24th place and rounded out the top five for the Spiders.
