NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Saint Louis junior Gabbie Kowalik its Softball Player of the Week, while George Mason senior Haellie Gordon was named the Pitcher of the Week. Dayton freshman Addy Bullis earned Rookie of the Week. The awards, announced Tuesday and presented by Biosteel, are for games played March 8-14.

Kowalik led Saint Louis to four wins in five games at SLU's Billiken Spring Tournament. The New Braunfels, Texas, product, posted a .700 batting average (7-for-10) and slugged 1.800 with the aid of three home runs and a triple. Kowalik collected seven RBI, scored nine runs, was 2-for-2 in steal attempts, struck out just once, and drew six walks including a school-record-tying four -- all intentional passes -- in the tournament finale. Those six walks boosted her on-base percentage to .812, giving her an astonishing 2.612 OPS. She also stood out defensively, throwing out two runners at the plate from left field.

Gordon started in two games this weekend, winning both starts. She also came in as relief and recorded a save. Over three appearances (14.0 IP), Gordon tallied 14 K's, allowing just five total hits, two runs, only one earned run, giving up one walk and one extra base hit (double). Gordon ERA is currently 0.35 in 20.0 innings (leads team in both categories). The pitcher from Salem, Va., has helped the Patriots improve to an overall record of 6-0 (4-0 A-10) as Mason is the last remaining undefeated team in the conference.

For the week, Bullis posted a 0.93 ERA with 13 strikeouts over 15.0 innings of work in three appearances for the Flyers. She tossed a complete-game, 3-2 win over Illinois State on Friday with a career-high eight strikeouts. On Saturday, the LHP from Ivoryton, Conn., closed out Dayton's extra innings loss to North Dakota State, working 2.2 innings with zero earned runs and two strikeouts. In Saturday's nightcap against Illinois State, Bullis put in 5.1 innings while striking out three and allowing only one hit.
